Sexual violence is a serious problem that disproportionately impacts women and members of the LGBTQ+ community. Being subjected to sexual violence can have far-reaching social and economic consequences for survivors.

The new project spearheaded by the Antigonish Womens’ Resource Centre and Sexual Assault Services Associations is set to encourage bystander intervention to prevent sexual violence on college and university campuses.

The investment of $197,000 will include partnerships with StFX University and the StFX Students’ Union.

The work of this organization, and other women’s centres in our region, has sincerely impressed me over the past four years. Thank you for your important work. I am so glad to be able to partner with you again to help eliminate gender based violence in our communities.
