SUPPORTING THE FISHERY WITH INVESTMENTS IN LOCAL WHARVES

We know that investing in infrastructure creates jobs in the short term and helps support long term economic growth. This is particularly true in the local fishery, where investments in wharf infrastructure helps employ construction workers, and provides a safe and reliable place for fishermen to land their catch and get products to market.

We’ve increased funding for Small Craft Harbours by $250 Million, and are seeing benefits locally. We’ve seen investments in infrastructure to support the fishery in places like Sonora, Owl’s Head, Caribou, Arisaig, Ballantyne’s Cove, Little Liscomb, Toney River, Port Bickerton, Pictou Island, Skinner’s Cove, Marie Joseph, Cribbon’s Point, Lismore, Cape John, and Gammon’s Creek, among others.

By supporting our fishery, we can ensure the sector will continue to thrive and support the economy in rural communities at home.
